Building Our Foundations, Shaping the Future

Welcome

Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the European Association for Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology (EAVPT), we are delighted to invite you to the EAVPT 2026 Congress, taking place from June 28 to July 1, 2026, in the vibrant city of Thessaloniki, Greece. Centered on the theme "Building Our Foundations, Shaping the Future", the congress will be a landmark gathering of researchers, clinicians, industry leaders, educators, and students, dedicated to advancing veterinary pharmacology and toxicology through innovation, collaboration, and visionary science.

A Cutting-Edge Scientific Program
The EAVPT 2026 Congress is dedicated to showcasing cutting-edge developments in veterinary science, with a particular emphasis on transformative technologies and emerging trends in veterinary therapeutics. The program will further cover a broad range of topics, spanning fundamental and applied research in pharmacology, toxicology, and all areas of clinical pharmacology.

The program features a dynamic lineup of innovative sessions, including:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Veterinary Medicine
To explore transformative impact of AI on diagnostics, treatment planning, and therapeutic management, delivering unprecedented precision and efficiency in veterinary care.
  • Next-Generation Therapeutics: Gene and Cell Therapies
To showcase pioneering developments in gene and cell-based therapies, opening new frontiers for treating both companion and livestock animals.
  • Innovative Alternatives to Live Animal Testing
To discuss how state-of-the-art approaches - including in vitro models, in silico simulations, and population PK/PD studies - may replace live animal testing in preclinical efficacy and safety assessments.
  • Core Areas in Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology
Topics include genetic influences on drug response, strategies for monitoring and optimizing therapy, drug resistance, global health and emerging infectious threats, environmental impacts on animal health, and innovative biomarkers for safety and efficacy assessment.

Fostering Industry-Academia Collaboration
A key highlight of EAVPT 2026 is our special plenary session, Developing Innovation in the Veterinary Industry. This session will focus on critical challenges faced in veterinary medicine and examine how academic–industry partnerships can drive transformative solutions. Featuring compelling case studies and a dynamic panel discussion, the session will spotlight successful case studies that bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and practical application. It offers a unique opportunity for industry leaders, academic researchers, regulatory agencies and innovators to connect, collaborate, and help shape the future of veterinary science.

Thessaloniki: A Historic and Vibrant Host City
Thessaloniki, Greece’s vibrant second city, is a captivating blend of ancient heritage and modern energy. Nestled along the Aegean Sea, it boasts a rich tapestry of history shaped by Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman influences, evident in its UNESCO-listed monuments, historic churches, and lively markets. Beyond its cultural treasures, Thessaloniki is renowned for its welcoming atmosphere, dynamic arts scene, and exceptional cuisine rooted in Mediterranean tradition. With its walkable city center, scenic waterfront promenade, and thriving café culture, Thessaloniki offers an ideal setting for both meaningful professional exchange and memorable exploration.

Welcome from the local organizers

As members of the Organizing Committee, we are honored to welcome you to the upcoming 16th International Congress of the European Association for Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology (EAVPT) in the city of Thessaloniki, Greece.

We are delighted to bring together colleagues, researchers, academics, and industry professionals from across Europe and beyond, for a dynamic and inclusive congress. We hope that the Congress will provide ample opportunities for scientific exchange, collaborative discussions, and knowledge dissemination across generations of scientists.

The Congress venue, the Porto Palace Hotel, offers modern facilities and is conveniently located within walking distance of the historical and commercial heart of Thessaloniki and its seafront promenade. The city center offers a rich variety of commercial stores, theaters, lively cafés, restaurants, bars, and clubs, ensuring that after a full day of scientific sessions, participants can indulge themselves in leisure activities in a welcoming atmosphere.

Thessaloniki, Greece’s second-largest urban zone, the once noble “co-reigning city” of the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire, has a long and diverse history that spans over 2,300 years. As a cultural melting pot, it is home to numerous UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Rotunda, the Church of Hagios (Saint) Demetrios, the Palace of Galerius, the White Tower and the Byzantine walls. Its layered history offers a fascinating backdrop to the congress, inviting visitors to explore this heritage in their free time. We warmly invite all participants to join us for a get-together reception on Sunday evening (June 28th), where you will enjoy authentic Greek cuisine alongside a selection of local wines, beers, spirits, and beverages, reconnect with colleagues, and engage in casual networking. The social program also includes a congress dinner on Tuesday evening (June 30th), offering a taste of Thessaloniki’s renowned hospitality in an atmosphere filled with joy (and perhaps a little dancing!). Throughout the congress, you can also look forward to a few delightful surprises designed to make your experience both memorable and inspiring. Meeting you for four days of scientific exchange, profound connections, and cultural exploration will be a delight.

Insider tip: If your schedule allows, consider extending your stay by a day or two (perhaps even more…) to experience northern Greece’s blend of nature and history—relax on the pristine beaches of the Aegean coast at Chalkidiki peninsulas and at the foot of majestic Mount Olympus, or explore ancient wonders like Dion, Vergina, and Pella. The experience will surely be more than rewarding

Warm regards!
